E.T. (circa 1947)

Hear that? I never heard anything like it,
no wonder my fellow scientists are so excited,
this is the kind of unprecedented history one can retire with, al-
beit clandestine, this story happened and I'm the one to write it,

(anesthesia)
This opportunity was ripe, and not to be wasted,
an adrenaline rush no one could touch, and I could taste it,
subject matter of which sc-fi writers had only played with,
the day our radar picked up the crash site of a spaceship,

(scalpal)
He fell from the sky with his crew, not far from here,
all came from far away, Earth-like but a larger sphere,
only he survived, but we can learn from his martyred peers,
not a soul can know, we can't show our ass, so guard the rear,

(suction)
Cut off all communique, immediately, right now,
no CIA, no FBI, no NSA, no White House,
Ike was pissed, I would be too, our actions raised an eyebrow, but
what we found would have turned the order of things upside down.

(forceps)
His sounds... ha, he's quite the spectacle,
gray skin, bulbous head, no phallus, no testicles,
smallish build, massive eyes, no clothes was intentional, we've
named him E. T. as in extraterrestrial,

(tweezers)
Their mission was specific, entirely exploratory,
bring back samples of Life, the more, the more rewarding,
their ship was equipped with living quarters and Laboratory,
it was the shifting magnetic fields that led to this Horror Story,

(bone saw)
He's the only one left, yet shows no sign of pain,
objective, realizing what we all have to gain,
a scientist, like me, botany was his claim to fame, and
able to reanimate life forms from the grave,

(retractor)
What a shock, amazing, to say the least,
a Healer with the ultimate power, we've never reached,
christ-like almost, but some would try to slay the Beast,
the only question being, would he teach?

(syringe)
No luck yet, I guess we'll have to put in work,
but he's been fading lately, and somewhat inert,
we'll do our best to figure him out, but we are no experts,
hang in there little buddy, I hope this doesn't hurt.

(defibulator)
He's going into shock, come on, bring it here,
everyone away from the table top? Okay, clear!
Nothing? Clear! Again? Clear!
Clear! Clear! Clear! Clear!
